Join The Fashion Class for an Unforgettable Fab Fashion Experience this Summer 2018!
The Fashion Class is a year-round program and facility that teaches teens sewing, draping, marketing and merchandising all throughout the school year and summer. Now in our 4th year of camp in Merrick Long Island, our professional studio features a sewing room, art room and two bathrooms. Our camp instructors are graduates of fashion and art programs at some of the best fashion schools in the world, like Parsons the New School of Design and the Fashion Institute of Technology.
Our fashion camp is for serious fashionistas who want to make their designs and dreams a reality! Perfect for beginners and advanced sewers and those looking to build a portfolio for school admissions.
Join us as we sew, drape, sketch and shop at Mood Designer Fabrics this summer!
Campers can join for 1+ weeks of camp (lessons will not repeat). Each day will involve sewing in our fully equipped studio, fashion design & illustration plus a field trip to shop for fabric. Our teen designers get to choose their own fabric from Mood Fabric Store (featured on Project Runway) on the first day of each week of camp.
All fabric, trip and supply costs are included in the camp fee.

Sewing: In our sewing class campers will learn to use the sewing machine to create garments of their choosing with fabric purchased earlier in the week. We encourage students to make 2+ items in one week. Our studio also has plenty of buttons, zippers and trim plus dress forms, patterns and steam irons for our teen students to work with.
Fashion Illustration: Campers will learn from a professional Fashion Illustrator how to sketch the croquis, render fabric and use paint, fashion markers and more to bring their design to paper.
How to Create A Fashion Label: A fashion camp wouldn't be complete without delving into How to Create a Fashion Label! Lessons include sales, entrepreneurship, merchandising and marketing. Perfect for those looking to apply to a fashion design college program or even start their own line!
Lunch: We have a refrigerator, microwave and water cooler in our studio.Lunch is not included in the camp fee and we ask that campers pack a peanut free lunch.
Trip to Mood: On the first day of camp, after an hour of introductions and sketching, our camp group will travel to Mood Designer Fabrics in NYC. We will travel via private car service (usually a Mercedes van), fully licensed and insured, with a ratio of one adult per five campers. Students will be guided around the store in their group as they choose fabric for the designs they will make during the week. Fabric is included in the camp fee and students are given a fabric budget. Field trip costs are also included. Campers will return to the Merrick studio by 4:30PM.
